Slovakia – located in the heart of Central Europe – is connected to its neighbours by the Danube. After the splitting-up of Czechoslovakia into its constituent parts, Slovakia achieved its autonomy as an independent state in January 1993. Geographically, the country with the mountain range of the Carpathians is famous for the High Tatra.
In the 1990s, the privatisation of the national economy started, leading to an economic stabilisation of the former socialist state. In the hardware industry, the number of commercial customers is decreasing slightly. By contrast, Slovakian 3e members are registering increased interest among hobby do-it-yourself enthusiasts.
